About the role

The Media Activation team is responsible for providing thoughtful and exciting recommendations for Search, Social, Display, and Video, owning supplier relationships, and then executing those recommendations expertly. The Media Activation team leverages their mastery of each channel to make sure its recommendations are consistently excellent and innovative, and that in-channel performance and data integrity is maximized.

The Media Activation Director is the display lead for designated clients/campaigns, and is responsible for delivering category-defining capabilities and services across all Biddable channels, with a particular focus on programmatically bought and reservation bought display activity. Success in this role involves providing strategic insight across a breadth of channels, helping to evolve best practice within the display channel specifically, and leading a team (including ultimate responsibility for quality of work within this team).

Some of the thing's we'd like you to do:

  • Responsible for effective oversight of designated account campaigns and weaving these into the overall cross-channel campaign strategy
  • Support the team Client Director & Media Activation Practice Lead in capacity planning & resource management for the team
  • Oversee development and creation of display best practices in region coordinating with global EMEA / APAC team to ensure consistency across regions (with ultimate accountability for adherence to controls and best practices across all channels in the immediate account team)
  • Be the primary contact point of contact between the Media Activation team and regular stakeholders both internal & external for their account(s)
  • Develop strong relationships with your client, and key suppliers, leading team communications with these stakeholders. Be able to communicate with clients on subjects outside your remit, and provide them with useful insight, working independently
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all programmatic platforms (e.g. - DSPs, DMPs, etc) operating as in-agency expert in your field of specialism, whilst showing a good understanding of the overall media landscape
  • Manage and develop vendor relationships within display, working closely with the Platforms & Emerging Media team where applicable
  • Identifying new platforms, partners & integrations, evaluating these (and existing platforms) over time and maintaining a POV here
  • Develop thought leadership pieces & case studies throughout the course of the year to demonstrate role within wider industry as a display expert
  • Deliver quarterly, semi-annual, or annual updates on work quality as it relates to owned workstreams
  • Gain a more strategic understanding of the client's business and KPIs, and keep up to date with latest Industry news and be proactive in spotting trends, product releases, and other opportunities which could enhance our activity
  • Ownership of channel specialism forecasting, brand study and optimisation methodologies
  • Ownership of channel specialism test ideation in partnership with Analytics
  • Motivational Leader, leading by example while encouraging and coaching juniors on the team
  • Lead through vision, values, and model leadership behaviors while championing and facilitating change in a positive manner
  • Provide timely and actionable feedback to the team to aid in their development, improvement, and progress
  • Continually monitor and watch after Essential satisfaction across client teams, identifying and implementing ways to either maintain or increase satisfaction
  • Strong and effective communication across all levels; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
  • Understand when & how to escalate issues to Senior Client Director and senior management
  • Provide awareness and recognition for jobs well done
  • Oversee and ensure the successful onboarding of new Essentials
  • Thoughtfully craft professional development plans for your reports and contribute to the development of training materials to this end

A bit about yourself:

  • Excellent knowledge of media planning fundamentals e.g. reach, frequency, channels, formats, etc.
  • Expert knowledge in PMP / Reservation Partners
  • Good knowledge of planning related details (quarter level) including but not limited to campaign pacing, data options, etc.
  • Primary contact point between Activation and adjacent teams
  • Ultimately responsible for campaigns and weaving into overall campaign strategy
  • Ultimate owner of channel level forecast inputs for Media Planning
  • Regularly contributes to PMP/ Reservation best practices and campaign processes
  • Authorship or contribution to 2 internal case studies / quarter
  • Excellent knowledge of media planning fundamentals e.g. reach, frequency, channels, formats, etc.
  • Ensures all proposed planning tactics ladder up to higher level strategic thinking
  • Proactively spearhead conversations to expand programmatic marketplace as it pertains to planning (publishers, data,)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Media/Advertising or a related field
  • Experience may be substituted for the education
  • Proven experience at Activation Director level in a Digital Media or Advertising role (including some aspects of managing P&L)
  • Proven Project Management, Leadership and People Management Experience
