Sphere's US Launch: How it's Gone, Where we are, and What the Future Looks Like

As challenging as the last two years have been in the world, and with hiring in general, the logical thing to do is launch a new office in NYC on Wall Street... right? Not to mention doing it with a few recent college graduates and a guy who had been to New York once before in his lifetime. With the backing and support of our leadership team, the launch could not have been smoother. Of course, none of this would be possible without the incredible work that everyone in London has put in to get us to this point.  

Below is an update on how things have gone so far, where we currently are, and where we’d like to get to by the end of the year! 

How it’s gone so far: 

After working in the US market for several years out of London we opened our first physical office on April 1st on Wall Street. To make the transition as smooth as possible the team spent several months and late nights together training, planning, and the occasional beer! This time was critical in allowing us to bring over the culture and key values of the UK business to the US, something that makes Sphere stand out.  

To date, we have absolutely crushed both our team and individual goals. Working with over 30 businesses, we are already starting to make a big mark on the recruiting landscape in the US.  

Here are a few key highlights: 

  • Jobs worked on - 109 
  • 1sts Interviews Booked - 296 
  • 2nd interviews booked - 66 
  • 524 candidates met and interviewed by our team. 
  • 37 Hires Made 

Where we are currently up to: 

As I am writing this, we have officially moved into our second NYC office on Broad Steet. To see how far we have come in a matter of only 4 months is astounding! 

When we moved into our first office, it felt like we had more room than we knew what to do with. As we are leaving, it is hard to imagine how productive we were in such a small space. Although the move is bittersweet, relocating this quickly after we launched is a testament to how hard we’ve worked.  

Along the way, here are a few of the most memorable moments, both good and bad: 

  • Worked out of an office that felt colder than a winters day in New York 
  • Office visits and nights out with both of our Co-Founders 
  • Welcomed two new incredible members to our team – Artavia and Rilea  
  • Received great praise from incredible clients and working with some of the best people in the Ad Tech space 
  • Built out our desks and maintained our specialism in hiring into Sales, Account Management, Programmatic Trading, and Ad Operations roles 

Additionally, while we’ve been here, there have already been two promotions, a team lunch out to celebrate smashing our targets, and our UK headquarters were awarded the Best Small Business in the UK. These are the types of things that I know we will continue to see, and this motivates us to become an award-winning business here in the US. 

Where we’d like to get to: 

As we continue to see our office space grow, the excitement of building our team with it is undeniable. We have been able to establish such a strong core in such a limited time and will continue to build that moving forward.
