Technical Lead – Java

£80,000 – £85,000
We’re working with an established, growing SaaS business looking for a Technical Lead to join its product engineering team.
This is a hands-on role, combining software engineering with technical direction, architecture and mentoring. You’ll lead a cross-functional product squad and play a key role in the continued development and modernisation of a large-scale SaaS platform.
The role:
* Lead the technical direction of a cross-functional engineering squad
* Remain hands-on, building scalable, high-quality software
* Mentor and support engineers through technical reviews, 1:1s and development plans
* Work closely with Product and Data teams to shape new features and solutions
* Take ownership of architecture, performance, scalability, reliability and security
* Contribute to the ongoing modernisation of the platform
* Help improve engineering practices, deployment frequency and overall delivery
* Support technical hiring as the engineering team continues to grow
What we’re looking for:
* Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring – essential
* Experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Lead Engineer or Technical Lead
* Experience within a SaaS, MarTech or data-driven product environment
* Previous experience mentoring and developing engineers
* Frontend experience with React and TypeScript would be beneficial
* Experience working in cloud-native environments using AWS or GCP
* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD
* Strong understanding of software design principles and testing practices
* Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Data and Engineering teams
