Location: Fully Remote
Hours: East Coast hours
Duration: Approximately 2 months, with potential for extension or transition to full-time
Rate: Approximately $80-$90/hour, depending on experience
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Freelance Account Director to join a social-first agency on a short-term basis. This is a hands-on role supporting multiple client accounts and providing coverage for senior team members during periods of PTO and high workload.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned agency account leader who can step into established accounts quickly, confidently lead client work, and keep teams and projects moving with minimal ramp-up time.
You may support several accounts depending on team needs.
Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day account management across multiple client accounts.

Step in as the primary account lead when senior team members are out.

Partner closely with account teams, creatives, strategists, and senior leadership to keep projects moving.

Manage client relationships and day-to-day communications.

Provide hands-on support across active projects, including rolling up your sleeves when needed.

Jump between accounts and priorities with confidence and minimal ramp-up time.

Help manage timelines, deliverables, team coordination, and client expectations.

Work closely with Group Account Directors and the General Manager for guidance and support.
Ideal Background

10-15+ years of agency account management experience, ideally at a social-first agency.

Proven experience at the Account Director or senior account leadership level.

Strong client management and communication skills.

Comfortable managing multiple accounts and shifting priorities.

Highly competent, confident, and able to quickly understand a new client, team, and workflow.

Hands-on approach-you should be willing and able to jump into the work rather than simply oversee it.

Previous freelance/contract experience is a plus.

Experience across social, digital, and integrated marketing is helpful.
