Lead Engineer

London | Hybrid – 3 days in office

An exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, technology-driven business that is building an AI-native platform to transform how brands and creators collaborate.

The business has already developed and launched its platform internally and is now looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to take ownership of its technical architecture, scale the product and drive the next phase of development.

This is a unique opportunity for a Senior or Lead Engineer who enjoys building products from the ground up, working with cutting-edge AI technologies and having genuine ownership over technical decisions. You will initially be highly hands-on, with the opportunity to build and lead an engineering team as the platform grows.

The role:

• Take technical ownership of an AI-native platform, developing and scaling the existing product as it expands to external clients and users.

• Lead hands-on backend development using Python, while contributing to the wider full-stack architecture and engineering strategy.

• Own cloud architecture, infrastructure and scalability, working primarily with GCP, Terraform and modern CI/CD practices.

• Develop and integrate AI/LLM capabilities, including agentic workflows and automation, using AI coding tools to accelerate development.

• Work closely with Product and commercial stakeholders to shape the roadmap, make architectural decisions and eventually grow the engineering team.

You:

• Strong background in backend software engineering, ideally with Python, FastAPI or similar technologies, alongside broader platform development experience.

• Proven experience designing, building and scaling production software products, with ownership of technical architecture and engineering decisions.

• Strong cloud infrastructure experience, ideally GCP, with an understanding of deployment, scalability and DevOps principles.

• Experience working with AI/LLM technologies, integrating AI functionality into products or using AI-assisted development tools.

• A proactive, product-minded engineer who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and enjoys remaining hands-on. Previous people management experience is not required.
