Data Engineer wanted for a major digital media business operating across some of the UK’s best-known publishing and content brands.

This is an opportunity to join a growing data team responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers reporting, analytics and commercial decision-making across a large digital media network.

The role

You’ll work closely with the wider Data and Technology teams to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations across multiple platforms and data sources.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across large and complex datasets

• Working extensively with SQL and Python to transform, process and manage data

• Developing and maintaining data infrastructure within GCP, particularly BigQuery

• Integrating data from multiple sources, including APIs, advertising platforms and digital analytics tools

• Working with large volumes of digital media, advertising and audience data

• Improving the reliability, scalability and performance of existing data pipelines

• Supporting the development of the wider data platform and helping establish strong engineering standards

• Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions

You

You’ll be a strong Data Engineer with solid software engineering fundamentals and experience building production-grade data solutions.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Strong SQL skills

• Strong experience with Python or Java

• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally GCP

• Hands-on experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses

• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines

• Experience working with APIs and integrating multiple data sources

• Exposure to tools such as Airflow, dbt or Spark

• Experience working with large-scale datasets

• A strong understanding of data modelling, pipeline architecture and engineering best practices

• Experience within digital media, advertising, publishing or AdTech would be beneficial but is not essential

The team is looking for a strong engineer first, with the ability to build reliable and scalable data solutions. Experience with AI or machine learning can be beneficial, but this is fundamentally a hands-on Data Engineering role.
