Sales Development Representative
Location: London (Hybrid, 2-3 days per week in office)
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 Base + Commission
The Exciting Bits
Our client is a specialist workforce management platform for the retail, hospitality and entertainment sectors. Its technology helps organisations decide who should be working and when, across hundreds of stores, restaurants and venues, making scheduling more efficient for the business and fairer for the people on the rota.
Trusted by some of the UK’s best-known retail and food brands, the business has made a deliberate choice to excel at scheduling rather than spread itself thin. As part of a larger group, it combines the reach and security of a bigger organisation with the energy, ownership and close-knit culture of a smaller company.
Why join?
- Specialist scheduling platform trusted by household-name UK retail and food brands
- Stability of a larger group, with the pace and closeness of a small team
- Not your typical call-list SDR role – research-led, insight-first outreach to senior leaders
- Daily hands-on use of in-house AI tools, with the chance to help shape how they develop
- Responsibility from day one, plus direct access to the CRO and Account Executives
- Realistic progression into Account Executive or other roles within 12-18 months
- Uncapped commission on accepted meetings and self-generated pipeline, with a guaranteed ramp for your first three months
- 25 days’ holiday plus your birthday off, and a company-wide Christmas shutdown
- 5% employer pension match, plus personal development and wellbeing tools
The Job
As Sales Development Representative, you’ll find the organisations that stand to gain most from data-optimised staff scheduling, and open meaningful conversations with the senior people who run them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building target account lists with Sales and Marketing, then getting under the skin of how each business trades, where its people are, what’s changing and how it schedules today
- Using in-house AI tools, Companies House filings, trading updates, job postings and news to build a hypothesis on where scheduling may be costing a business money, efficiency or goodwill
- Writing that hypothesis down in plain English before any outreach, so every message starts from clear thinking rather than a template
- Engaging COOs, operations and people directors, CFOs, CIOs, heads of data and other stakeholders with outreach tailored to their business, via phone, video, email and LinkedIn
- Cold calling, following up warm leads and holding first conversations with senior leaders every week
- Developing enough understanding of integrations, APIs, HR and payroll systems to keep IT and data leaders engaged
- Using AI daily for research, writing, prioritisation and account planning, and helping the team get more from it
- Creating and refining outreach playbooks, research workflows, prompts and small tools, and feeding improvements back into the in-house AI tools
- Booking qualified discovery meetings for Account Executives, and being honest when a lead isn’t ready
- Working inbound and partner-sourced leads promptly and keeping Salesforce accurate
- Sharing market feedback, objections, competitor intelligence and product gaps with Sales, Marketing and Product
About You
Someone curious and clear-thinking who wants to learn about business, selling and AI. Curiosity and a willingness to learn matter more than a perfect CV, and previous SDR experience is helpful but not essential.
You will ideally have:
- Genuine curiosity about how businesses make and lose money, and the ability to read (or learn to read) an annual report
- A research-first mindset – forming a point of view before you reach out
- Clear, concise writing and the ability to hold a focused conversation with senior stakeholders
- The confidence to pick up the phone to senior people, and honesty about what you do and don’t yet know
- Hands-on, everyday use of AI tools
- A commercial mindset focused on useful conversations and qualified pipeline, not activity volume
- Technical curiosity about APIs, integrations, HR and payroll technology
- A collaborative, organised, test-and-learn approach
- Bonus: outbound B2B software experience; exposure to retail, hospitality, leisure or entertainment operations; familiarity with workforce management, HR tech or payroll; or scripting, no-code or data skills (Python, SQL, advanced spreadsheets)
- The right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship isn’t available)
