Overview
A key client of ours are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead the delivery of complex, end-to-end web and digital programmes. This role is ideal for a strategic operator who can shape vision, establish governance, and oversee multi-workstream delivery across cross-functional teams. You will be instrumental in ensuring successful execution of web transformation programmes, aligning business, technology, and creative stakeholders to deliver scalable digital solutions.
As a senior member of the delivery function, you will bring depth in programme management, the ability to manage high-value budgets, and proven experience in orchestrating multiple workstreams from concept through to launch and optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Programme Delivery: Lead the successful delivery of large-scale web and digital transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Programme Governance: Establish and oversee governance frameworks, PMO structures, and delivery methodologies (Agile/SAFe/Waterfall/Hybrid).
- Strategic Road mapping: Translate business vision into actionable programme roadmaps, defining scope, priorities, dependencies, and success measures.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Partner with senior stakeholders and executive sponsors to align on strategy, delivery expectations, and reporting.
- Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (internal, offshore, and third-party suppliers), fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Risk & Issue Management: Anticipate, manage, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and blockers to ensure smooth programme execution.
- Budget Oversight: Manage multimillion-pound budgets, ensuring delivery within financial parameters and value realisation for the business.
- Resource Management: Oversee programme resourcing, recruitment support, and mentoring of project management staff.
- Reporting & Communication: Deliver clear, insightful programme updates, highlighting progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion operational excellence and introduce best practices to strengthen delivery capability across the organisation.
Key Experience and requirements for the role:
- 10+ years of experience managing and delivering large-scale digital/web programmes.
- Demonstrable expertise in end-to-end website and platform delivery across multiple markets or business units.
- Proven ability to manage multi-workstream, cross-functional delivery within global or complex organisational environments.
- Deep understanding of Agile, SAFe, Lean, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets of £2M+ annually.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at executive level.
- Proficiency in delivery tools such as Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence), Azure DevOps, Asana, Miro, and MS Project.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments, ideally within agencies, consultancies, or large-scale enterprises.
- Familiarity with delivering programmes in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, utilities) desirable.
- Amy experience working in more regulated industries would be a bonus
