Overview
I have partnered with a global video intelligence and measurement company to hire a Senior Director, Sales Engineering, who will own and scale the Sales Engineering function while remaining hands-on with enterprise customers.
This is a player-coach leadership role, sitting at the intersection of proprietary video data, AI-driven insights, and enterprise data platforms. The company is evolving from a traditional ad tech narrative into a data-first organization, and this leader will be critical in shaping how that story is told, sold, and technically proven to the market.
This role is not a pure sales, account management, or lightweight solutions position. The ideal candidate brings deep technical credibility, comfortable whiteboarding architectures, discussing data models, scripting in Python, and engaging sophisticated data buyers, paired with the executive presence to translate complex measurement and audience intelligence into compelling, C-suite-ready value narratives. Your work will directly influence enterprise adoption, deal velocity, and revenue growth across streaming, broadcast, and cross-platform measurement.
Senior Director, Sales Engineering - Responsibilities
- Serve as the executive technical partner to enterprise Sales, owning pre-sales strategy, disciplined discovery, and executive POVs across TV measurement, tune-in, planning, and outcomes-while maintaining a personal book of enterprise business.
- Act as a player-coach, managing a team of 2 Sales Engineers (growing to 3), hiring and developing senior technical talent, and setting the bar for technical excellence and customer engagement.
- Own technical deal strategy for complex enterprise opportunities, shaping solution designs, reference architectures, and ROI models across APIs, SQL/ETL pipelines, clean rooms, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Translate deep, data-centric architectures into clear, executive-ready narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, partnering closely with Product, Data Science, Legal, and InfoSec to ensure feasibility, compliance, and smooth execution.
- Drive measurable revenue impact by influencing pipeline, improving win rates, shortening sales cycles, and increasing ACV through value engineering, technical close plans, deal reviews, and stage-gate discipline.
- Define and scale the Sales Engineering operating model, including charter, coverage, standards, discovery frameworks, and enablement materials that raise consistency and quality across deals.
- Represent the company as a senior technical and industry leader with strategic customers, partners, and at key industry events, while feeding real-world field insights back into product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
Senior Director, Sales Engineering - Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, with 12-15+ years of experience in data-driven AdTech, MarTech, or Measurement, and 5+ years leading managers or senior ICs in customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong data-first background is critical, experience from pure data companies or data-heavy platforms is highly valued.
- Proven technical depth, including the ability to whiteboard architectures live, discuss complex data and measurement concepts with sophisticated buyers, and demonstrate fluency across APIs, SQL, ETL, clean rooms, identity solutions, and cloud platforms.
- Deep expertise in modern TV measurement frameworks, tune-in, planning, and outcomes, with a strong understanding of how data products drive enterprise decision-making.
- Demonstrated track record partnering closely with Sales to influence and close large-scale enterprise deals, shaping solution strategy, supporting complex negotiations, and impacting $20M+ ARR.
- Exceptional communicator with strong executive presence, capable of simplifying the complex and building trust with senior client stakeholders.
- Builder-oriented, data-driven leader with high empathy for customers and the ability to scale teams, processes, and quality while remaining calm under pressure.
- Trusted cross-functional partner to Sales, Product, Legal, and InfoSec; decisive, thoughtful, and commercially minded.
