Digital Marketing

Digital marketing careers are vast, working in Fashion, Retail, Travel, Gaming (the digital world is your oyster)! Complimenting any offline marketing activities, digital marketing explores online, digital channels, such as apps, emails, search engines and websites.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing jobs, or Acquisition Marketing, describes any type of marketing performed to attract customers to a website or app.

The main responsibilities for digital marketing jobs are to drive brand awareness through all types of media channels in order to build a community and allow prospective consumers to understand and interact with their brand.

With the evolution of technology, digital marketing is naturally becoming the foundation of all types of social media marketing. Digital marketing jobs are particularly crucial for companies for reaching a wider audience than traditional marketing methods alone can. There are a number of different channels that can be used:

  • PPC
  • Paid Search
  • SEO
  • Organic Search
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Digital Advertising
  • Email Marketing
  • Social Media

Digital marketing is applicable across all industries, such as B2B, DTC, or eCommerce, however it is important to use different strategies that are most appropriate for your industry and sector. For example, a fashion retail brand would benefit much more from using visual platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, as opposed to using Twitter.

Digital marketing is typically more cost effective than other methods, is more measurable, easy to change and adapt to current trends, and can effectively target prospective audiences at every stage as opposed to just anyone and everyone.

Landing a digital marketing career doesn’t necessarily require a degree, but having a relevant degree can always help with your understanding of the industry and can act as a stepping stone for your career.

As with all marketing roles, experience is crucial, being able to demonstrate your involvement in internships and work experience is a huge benefit, especially for landing your first digital marketing job. In digital marketing, knowledge is key, so ensuring you’re up to date on the latest digital platforms and trends is a must, and being able to demonstrate how you have used these channels previously and the results you’ve produced is also a huge benefit.

Finding your niche early on can be helpful when considering digital marketing roles and can allow you to focus your time and energy into those skills, however having a broad range of marketing skills will always serve as a benefactor.
